With the Foreign Secretary in the region to launch the document ‘UK and China: A framework for engagement’ and the former President of the World Bank warning of an economic shift to the east at the Liverpool IFS dinner the post Olympic messages are clear.
China does matter. China is important to business.
Liverpool along with London is leading the way on engagement with China as the only cities from the UK that are exhibiting at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
Significant progress has been made since the last update from Dr Kerry Brown in August and Mike Taylor, who is leading the Liverpool project, provided an overview on participation and how the business community could get involved.
The lunch took place on Wednesday 4th February 2009 at the Racquet Club, Hargreaves Building, 5 Chapel Street. Following the usual format for these events, refreshments were provided from arrival at 12:30 p.m. whilst attendees took the opportunity to network. The presentations began at 1:00 p.m. and concluded at 2:00 p.m.
