Liverpool Vision's plans for the future......

We were delighted to welcome back Michael Parker, Chairman of Liverpool Vision, to speak for at this joint lunch with Professional Liverpool, the Liverpool Society of Chartered Accountants and Liverpool Law Society.

Having spent a year in post with Liverpool Vision, Michael provided an overview of his term of office, and also outlined the organisation's aims over the coming months on how Liverpool can continue to compete effectively for inward investment against other European city regions to produce a lasting change for Merseyside.

Born in Liverpool and educated in the North West of England, Michael obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester and an MBA from the Manchester Business School.  He began his career with Dow Chemicals in 1968, serving in a wide variety of jobs in research, manufacturing and the commercial area. International experience has seen him working in the USA, UK, Switzerland and Hong Kong.  He was President and Chief Executive Officer of The Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan, USA from November 2000 to December 2002 and a member of the company’s Board of Directors from 1995.

From 2003 Michael was Group Chief Executive of BNFL before taking up his post with Liverpool Vision.

The lunch took place on Thursday 25th June 2009 at the Racquet Club, Hargreaves Building, 5 Chapel Street.  Following the usual format for these events, refreshments were provided from arrival at 12:30 p.m. whilst attendees were able to take the opportunity to network. The presentation began at 1:00 p.m., and the session concluded at 2:00 p.m.
